    The Butt Fusion Welding Machine for HDPE Pipe is a dedicated welding device for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes. Through a hot-melt butt welding process, the ends of two HDPE pipes are heated and melted, then fused together under precise pressure to form a high-strength, zero-leakage integrated joint. It is widely used in municipal water supply, gas transmission, industrial fluid transmission, sewage discharge, and other HDPE pipeline engineering scenarios. The equipment is compatible with PE/PP/PVDF and other thermoplastic pipes, and is available in four main categories based on the drive method: manual, semi-automatic, hydraulically fully automatic, and CNC fully automatic.

     

    Core Components
    A typical HDPE butt welding machine consists of the following core components:

    1. Pipe Alignment Carriage: Fixes and clamps the two pipe sections, ensuring precise end face alignment;

    2. Electric Trimmer/Facer: Used to smooth the pipe end face and remove the oxide layer;

    3. PTFE Coated Heating Plate: Equipped with an independent temperature control system, surface temperature difference ≤±5°C, preventing plastic adhesion;

    4. Hydraulic Unit: Provides stable welding pressure, with an adjustable pressure range typically 0–6.3 MPa or higher;

    5. Electric Control Unit: Integrates a temperature controller, timer, and digital display.

     

    Workflow

    1. Fixing and Alignment: Secure the two pipes to the frame fixture, adjust coaxiality, and ensure no significant deviation in the end faces.

    2. End Face Milling: Start the milling cutter and mill both ends of the pipes until the end faces are smooth and burr-free, removing any debris.

    3. Heating and Melting: Remove the milling cutter, place the heating plate, ensuring the pipe end faces are tightly against the heating plate, and heat to the set temperature until fully melted.

    4. Butt Jointing and Pressure Holding: Quickly remove the heating plate, and under the specified pressure, press the molten end faces together, maintaining the pressure until cooling and setting.

    5. Welding Completion: After cooling, release the fixture, remove the welded pipes, and the joint is formed.

    Q: Can I butt fuse HDPE to PVC?
    A: No. HDPE and PVC have different melting temperatures and chemical structures. Use mechanical flanged adapters instead.

    Q: What is the standard weld pressure for HDPE?
    A: Typically 5–8 bar (70–115 psi) depending on pipe SDR rating. Always follow the pipe manufacturer's Weld Procedure Specification.

    Q: How long does a butt fusion weld take?
    A: For 6" HDPE (SDR 11): Heating phase ~120 seconds; cooling phase ~10 minutes. Total cycle under 15 minutes.
