How to check whether the temperature sensor of the welding machine is accurate?

Jun 09, 2025

1. Visual inspection
Check the appearance: Check whether the appearance of the temperature sensor is damaged, deformed or corroded. If there is obvious damage or corrosion on the surface of the sensor, it may affect its measurement accuracy.
2. Use a thermometer to measure
Prepare a standard thermometer: Use a calibrated standard thermometer to ensure its accuracy and reliability.
Measure the temperature of the welding area: Place the standard thermometer in the welding area and start the welding machine to heat it to the set temperature. Record the temperature value displayed by the standard thermometer.
Compare the readings: Compare the readings of the standard thermometer with the temperature display of the welding machine. If the readings of the two differ greatly (usually more than ±5℃), it means that the temperature sensor of the welding machine may be inaccurate.
3. Check the temperature control circuit and sensor
Check the circuit connection: Use a multimeter to check whether the circuit connection of the temperature sensor is normal to ensure that there is no short circuit or open circuit.
Check the sensor performance: If you suspect that the sensor performance has deteriorated, you can use professional sensor testing equipment to calibrate or replace it.
4. Calibrate the temperature sensor
Enter the calibration mode: Enter the temperature calibration mode according to the manual of the welding machine. Usually you need to press a specific key combination to enter the calibration mode.
Adjust the temperature setting: Use the calibration tool or device to calibrate the temperature sensor as instructed in the manual. Enter the actual temperature value measured by the standard thermometer and adjust the temperature setting of the welding machine until the displayed temperature is consistent with the standard thermometer.
Save the calibration settings: After completing the calibration, save the settings and exit the calibration mode.
5. Regular maintenance
Regular calibration: It is recommended to calibrate the temperature sensor once every six months or one year to ensure that it remains accurate for a long time.
Clean the sensor: Clean the temperature sensor regularly to remove dust and oil on the surface to avoid measurement errors.
