HDPE butt fusion welding machine is a dedicated thermoplastic pipe welding tool that complies with international standards including ISO 21307, ASTM F2620, and DVS 2207. Its working principle relies on precise thermal fusion technology: fix and align two pipe ends through a professional clamping system, heat the pipe mouths to the standard molten temperature (204°C-232°C) with a high-precision heating plate, remove the heating plate quickly, and fuse the molten pipe ends under stable hydraulic pressure. After natural cooling, the two pipes integrate into a seamless whole without gaps, leaks, or weak points.

How It Works (The 4-Phase Process)
Clamping: Pipes are secured in the machine's jaws.
Facing: A planer tool shaves off oxidized layers to expose fresh material.
Heating: A coated Teflon heating plate melts the pipe ends to a specified bead height.
Joining (Fusion): The heater plate is removed, and hydraulic pressure forces the molten ends together, creating a permanent weld.
Advantage
1. High-strength Connection
The strength of the welded joint can reach or even exceed that of the pipe itself.
2. Excellent Sealing Performance
The welded joint forms a monolithic structure, eliminating the need for sealing rings and preventing leakage.
3. Long Service Life
The welded joint has a service life of over 50 years, matching the lifespan of the HDPE pipe.
4. High Construction Efficiency
Suitable for rapid installation of large-diameter pipes, significantly reducing construction costs.
5. Environmentally Friendly and Energy-Saving
No glue, solvents, or other chemical adhesives are required, making it green and environmentally friendly.
Maintenance
Daily Maintenance
Clean welding jaws, pressure plates, and heating surfaces after each use
Remove chips and debris immediately to prevent contamination
Inspect electrical connections and hydraulic systems for leaks
Periodic Maintenance
Calibration: Verify temperature and pressure settings monthly
Consumables: Replace heating elements and planing blades when worn
Hydraulic System: Check oil levels and accumulator performance
Thermal Transfer: Clean heating plate PTFE coating; replace if scratched or carbonized
Storage Requirements
Store equipment in dry, flat locations away from heat sources and open flames.
Avoid direct sunlight exposure to prevent aging of hydraulic seals and electrical components.
Common Butt Fusion Defects (And How to Avoid Them)
Cold Weld (Low Bead): Caused by insufficient heater pressure or short heating time. Fix: Calibrate hydraulic pressure gauge annually.
Contamination (Black specks): The heater plate coating is failing. Fix: Replace Teflon-coated heating plates every 5,000 cycles.
V-Notch (Misalignment): Pipe ends were not faced flat. Fix: Always use the facing tool until shavings are uniform.
