What faults are prone to occur during the use of socket fusion welding machine?

May 07, 2025

1. Heating element failure
Fault description: The heating element is a key component of the socket fusion welding machine. After long-term use, it may age and be damaged. For example, the heating wire may break, resulting in failure to heat normally; the surface of the heating plate may be worn and deformed, affecting the uniformity of heating.
Cause: The heating element works in a high temperature environment for a long time, and is prone to oxidation, fatigue and other phenomena. In addition, factors such as frequent switching on and off, unstable current and voltage may also accelerate the damage of the heating element.
Solution: Check the status of the heating element regularly. If the heating wire is found to be broken, it is necessary to replace the heating wire of the same specification; for worn or deformed heating plates, they should be replaced or repaired in time to ensure the heating effect.
2. Inaccurate temperature control
Fault description: The temperature displayed by the welding machine does not match the actual heating temperature, or the temperature fluctuates greatly and cannot be stabilized within the set welding temperature range.
Cause: Failure of the temperature sensor, such as damage to the sensor probe, poor contact, etc., will lead to inaccurate temperature detection; aging and damage of the electronic components of the temperature control system may also affect the accuracy of temperature control; in addition, drastic changes in ambient temperature may also cause certain interference to temperature control.
Solution: Check whether the temperature sensor is well connected. If damaged, the sensor should be replaced in time. Calibrate and debug the temperature control system, and replace aging or damaged electronic components when necessary. At the same time, try to keep the welding environment temperature stable and avoid using the welding machine in places with large temperature changes.
3. Fixture problem
Fault description: The fixture cannot firmly clamp the pipes and fittings, resulting in displacement and shaking during welding; or the clamping force of the fixture is uneven, so that the welding surface of the pipes and fittings cannot be fully fitted.
Cause: The clamping mechanism of the fixture is worn and loose, or the design of the fixture is unreasonable and cannot adapt to pipes and fittings of different specifications. In addition, if the operator does not place the pipes and fittings correctly when installing them, the fixture may also fail to work properly.
Solution: Check the clamping mechanism of the fixture regularly, replace or repair worn parts, and adjust the clamping force of the fixture so that it can clamp the pipes and fittings evenly and firmly. When installing pipes and fittings, strictly follow the operating procedures to ensure that they are placed correctly.
4. Electrical system failure
Fault description: The welding machine has electrical faults such as leakage and short circuit, which makes it unable to start or run normally; or there is a problem with the control circuit of the welding machine, such as button failure and display screen not lighting up.
Cause: Aging and damage of the power cord, or moisture and water ingress of electrical components inside the welding machine may cause leakage and short circuit faults. Damage to electronic components in the control circuit and loose circuit connections will cause abnormalities in the control circuit.
Solution: Check the condition of the power cord and replace it in time if it is damaged. Dry the inside of the welding machine and repair or replace damp and damaged electrical components. Check the line connection of the control circuit, repair loose joints, and replace damaged electronic components such as buttons and display screens.
5. Unstable pressure control
Fault description: During the welding process, the applied pressure cannot remain stable. Either the pressure is too high, causing excessive deformation of the pipes and fittings; or the pressure is too low, making the welding surface unable to fully merge.
Cause: Failure of the pressure control system, such as damage to the pressure sensor, failure of the pressure regulating valve, etc., will lead to inaccurate pressure control. In addition, unstable gas source (if the welder uses a pneumatic pressure system) will also affect the stability of the pressure.
Solution: Check the working status of the pressure sensor and the pressure regulating valve. If there is a fault, replace or repair it in time. Ensure the stability of the gas source, such as installing a pressure stabilizing device to ensure that the pressure control system can work normally.
