How to Judge the Quality of a PE Butt Welding Machine

1. Core Component Inspection: Focus on the Heating Plate and Power System
These two components directly determine the welding quality and are the core of quality judgment:

Heating Plate: A high-quality heating plate has a smooth, uniform non-stick coating, free of bubbles and paint peeling; it uses an independent temperature control module, with temperature fluctuations ≤ ±3℃ after reaching the set temperature, and the temperature stabilizes without drifting after 1 hour of continuous use. Inferior heating plates are prone to material sticking and uneven temperature, directly leading to incomplete welds.

Power/Pressure System: For hydraulic models, check for oil leaks; the pressure gauge pointer should return to zero sensitively, and the pressure increase and decrease processes should be smooth without jamming; for manual models, the crank handle should move smoothly, and there should be no looseness or play after locking the clamps.

2. Accuracy Test: Verify Butt Welding and Temperature Control Accuracy

Butt Welding Accuracy: Fix two pipes of the same specification, clamp them, and measure the misalignment. Misalignment ≤ 10% of the pipe wall thickness is acceptable; the smaller the deviation, the better the accuracy. After manual clamping, the end faces fit together without noticeable gaps, and the fixture will not slide or misalign.

Temperature Control Accuracy: Set to a commonly used engineering temperature of 210℃. After the temperature stabilizes, verify with an independent temperature measuring instrument. An error of ≤±5℃ between the actual and set temperatures is considered excellent. An error exceeding ±10℃ indicates a substandard temperature control system, which will affect the melting effect.

3. Process Details: Examine the machine structure and the workmanship of accessories.

Frame and Fixtures: High-quality equipment uses thick-walled steel welded frames, providing good overall rigidity and preventing deformation under pressure. The fixtures use a double-clamp stacked structure for more precise positioning, and the surface is galvanized/chrome-plated for rust prevention and corrosion resistance.

Milling Cutter System: After startup, the milling cutter operates without noticeable abnormal noise, the cutting edge is sharp and without chipping, and the milled pipe end face is smooth and flat, without steps or gaps, and the cutting chips are continuous and uniform.

Electrical Components: The power cord has thick insulation, reliable grounding, sensitive control panel buttons, a clear display, and no lag or freezing during continuous operation.

4. Actual Welding Test: Inspecting the Quality of the Finished Weld
Try welding a piece of scrap material of the same specification. After cooling, observe the weld:

The flange should be uniform, continuous, and symmetrical, without bubbles, cracks, or burnt black marks; the height difference between the two flanges should be ≤1mm, and the width difference ≤2mm.

Cut the flange to check the internal fusion. If the fusion surface is free of gaps and slag inclusions, and completely fused together, it indicates stable welding quality and qualified equipment performance.
