Common Faults of PE Butt Welding Machines

Jan 02, 2026

I. Temperature Control System Faults

Machine not working: Check if the working voltage is normal and if the leakage circuit breaker is closed.

Heating plate not heating or temperature uncontrolled: Check if the wiring is loose or if the temperature controller is damaged.

Temperature indication fluctuating: Poor contact of the temperature control dial; reset or replace it.

II. Oil Pump Motor and Cutting Disc Motor Faults

Motor working but hydraulic actuation ineffective: Hydraulic oil level is insufficient; check the hydraulic oil and replenish with the specified grade.

Motor not working: Loose wiring or damaged motor; check and repair.

III. Hydraulic System Faults

High-pressure pipe interface oil leakage: Damaged quick-connect plug; replace the quick-connect plug.

IV. Substandard Welding Quality

Weak welds, incomplete welds, or missed welds: Related to welding parameter settings, energy output stability, or mechanical alignment accuracy.

Uneven weld appearance, burn-through, or lack of fusion: Check welding parameters and mechanical alignment accuracy.

V. Equipment Fails to Start or Execute Welding Cycles

No response after pressing the start button: This may indicate a power problem, control system malfunction, safety protection device triggering, or critical sensor failure.

Sudden stop at a certain step: The control system and sensors need to be checked.

VI. Mechanical Component Failure

Abnormal noise or vibration: Wear, loosening, or damage to mechanical transmission components, bearings, guide rails, etc.

Overheating of critical components: Significantly abnormal temperature increases in welding heads, transformers, drive motors, etc., may be due to cooling system malfunction, overload operation, or internal short circuit.

VII. Abnormal Control System Display

Error codes on the operation panel, screen flickering, or parameters failing to be set and saved: This may be related to the circuit board, wiring, or software system.

No display on the control box instruments: Damaged parts or loose wiring; parts and wiring need to be checked, replaced, or repaired.

VIII. Other Common Faults

No power: Blown fuse, power interface problem; parts need to be replaced and power restored.

Display screen not displaying, screen displaying distorted images, machine beeping after power-on: Display screen damaged (dampness, heat, impact, aging, loose wiring). Rewiring and replacement of the display screen are required.

Current unable to rise: External power supply undervoltage, power cord too long. Check external power connection and rewire.

Cannot operate normally according to set parameters after power-on: First-stage current parameter setting too low. Increase the first-stage current parameter for less than 30 seconds, then continue welding with normal parameters.

Display welding abnormality: PE pipe heating element short-circuited. Stop welding and allow it to cool before resuming.

Display output open circuit, resistance value below lower limit: PE pipe abnormality. Check and replace the PE pipe before welding.

Welding process abnormality, terminals overheating: Output wire copper cap aging. Repair the copper cap or replace with a new one.

Display overcurrent, overvoltage: External power supply problem. Check external power supply and rewire.
