I. Preparation for Milling Cutter Installation
‌1. Cleaning and Inspection‌
Ensure the spindle taper and milling cutter chuck shank are free of oil, dirt, or debris to prevent impacting installation accuracy.
Inspect the milling cutter cutting edge for integrity. Replace any wear or chipping.
‌2. Selecting a Suitable Elastic Sleeve‌
Match the elastic sleeve to the milling cutter shank diameter and install it into the chuck body, ensuring a tight fit.
II. Milling Cutter Installation Steps
‌1. Secure the Collet Body‌
Insert the chuck body into the spindle taper, aligning the keyway, and tighten with the tensioning screw.
Insert the milling cutter into the elastic sleeve, with a recommended extension of approximately 20mm to ensure rigidity.
‌2. Tightening and Initial Alignment‌
After tightening the nut, tighten it with a pin wrench to prevent the milling cutter from loosening. III. Milling Cutter Radial Runout Correction
‌1. Setting Measurement Conditions‌
Set the spindle speed to 750 rpm and turn off the power switch (to prevent accidental startup).
Use a dial indicator to contact the milling cutter cutting edge and slowly rotate the spindle manually to check the runout.
‌2. Adjustment Method‌
If runout exceeds tolerance, loosen the nut, rotate the milling cutter, re-clamp it, and repeat the test until it meets the standard.
‌If it still does not meet the standard, place a thin piece of paper between the spindle taper and the chuck where the misalignment is large to make minor adjustments.
‌IV. Precautions‌
‌Safety Operation: Do not turn on the power during correction; manually rotate the spindle throughout the entire process.
‌Precision Requirements‌
When welding PE pipe, the misalignment rate must be ≤10% of the pipe wall thickness. Otherwise, the milling cutter must be readjusted.
‌Maintenance Recommendations‌
Regularly clean milling cutter chips to prevent contamination of the cutting surface that could affect weld quality.
