How to avoid improper operation of electric fusion welding machine?

Oct 11, 2024

1. Personnel training and qualifications
1. Professional training
Operators should receive professional training on electric fusion welding machine operation. The training content includes the working principle, equipment structure, operation process, safety precautions, etc. of electric fusion welding machine. Through theoretical learning, operators can deeply understand the basic concepts of electric fusion welding and master the basis and significance of setting welding parameters.
In actual operation training, operators should practice welding pipes and pipes for many times under the guidance of professional coaches, and be familiar with the entire process from pipe preparation, welding machine connection, parameter setting to welding operation and cooling inspection until they master the operation skills.
2. Qualification certification
Operators are required to obtain relevant operation qualification certificates. For example, in some industry standards or engineering specifications, it is stipulated that personnel engaged in electric fusion welding must pass specific skill assessments and obtain corresponding qualification certifications. This helps to ensure that operators have the necessary knowledge and skill levels, thereby reducing the possibility of improper operation.
2. Strictly follow the operation process
1. Preparation before operation
Equipment inspection: Before using the electric fusion welding machine, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the welding machine in strict accordance with the requirements of the equipment manual. Check whether the power cord is intact, whether the plug can be inserted into the socket normally and has good contact; check whether the connector of the output line is firm, whether there is oxidation or looseness; check whether the operation panel of the welding machine is normal, and whether the buttons and display screen can work normally.
Pipe fittings and pipe preparation: Carefully check whether the specifications and models of the electric fusion pipe fittings and pipes match. The appearance of the pipe fittings should be free of defects such as cracks and sand holes, and the connecting ends of the pipes should be clean, dry, and free of oil, dust and impurities. Accurately insert the pipe to the correct depth according to the requirements of the pipe fittings to ensure a firm connection.
2. Welding operation process
Correctly connect the welding machine: Correctly connect the power cord of the electric fusion welding machine to a power socket with a suitable voltage (such as 220V or 380V) to ensure good grounding. Connect the output line of the welding machine to the terminal or socket of the electric fusion pipe fitting accurately in the prescribed manner, and check again whether it is firm after connection.
Parameter setting: According to the model, specification and material of the pipe marked on the electric fusion pipe fitting, strictly set the welding voltage and welding time according to the parameters provided by the manufacturer. When setting parameters, check carefully to avoid misoperation.
Welding process monitoring: After starting the welding program, closely observe the operating status of the welding machine. Pay attention to whether the output voltage, current and other parameters displayed on the display are stable, and whether the countdown of the welding time is normal. If the welding machine is found to have abnormal conditions, such as alarm sounds, large parameter fluctuations, etc., the welding should be stopped immediately and checked according to the troubleshooting process.
3. Post-welding processing
Cooling stage: After welding is completed, let the welding part cool naturally, and no external force or movement should be applied to the welding part. According to the specifications of the pipe fittings, the material of the pipe and the ambient temperature, etc., determine the appropriate cooling time. Do not perform subsequent operations before the cooling time is over.
Quality inspection: After cooling, perform an appearance inspection of the welding part according to the quality standards. Check whether there are defects such as pores, slag inclusions, and unfused parts in the welding part, and check whether the circumference of the welding part is uniform and whether there are obvious protrusions or depressions. For some important application scenarios, such as gas pipeline welding, non-destructive testing methods can be used to further check the welding quality.
III. Equipment maintenance and management
1. Regular maintenance
Establish a regular maintenance system for electric fusion welding machines. Clean the welding machine regularly (such as monthly or quarterly), and use a clean soft cloth to wipe the outer shell, operation panel, output interface and other parts of the welding machine to remove dust, oil and other impurities. For the inside of the welding machine, you can use a small vacuum cleaner or hair dryer (cold air gear) to clean it, but be careful to avoid damaging the internal circuit components.
Regularly check the electrical components of the welding machine, including transformers (if any), rectifiers, capacitors, relays, etc. Check whether these components have abnormal phenomena such as overheating, burning, deformation or loosening. If there are any problems, they should be replaced or repaired in time. At the same time, check whether the power cord and output line are damaged or aged, and replace them if necessary.
2. Equipment identification and operation guide
Post the equipment identification in a conspicuous position on the electric fusion welding machine, including equipment model, rated power, rated voltage, manufacturer information, etc. At the same time, post a detailed operation guide, including operation procedures, parameter setting range, safety precautions, etc. This makes it convenient for operators to check at any time during operation to avoid improper operation due to forgetfulness or unfamiliarity with the operation.
3. Equipment update and upgrade
Pay attention to the technical development of electric fusion welding machines and update or upgrade the equipment in a timely manner. New equipment may have better performance, ease of operation and safety. For example, a new electric fusion welding machine may have more precise parameter control functions, better fault diagnosis capabilities, etc., which can reduce the risk of improper operation.
